I have known Erica Buckner, MSW, LMSW for over 10 years. In the time that I have known her, she has been driven by evidence-based practices. She wants the best for her clients and helps advocate for them. I worked with her when she was a behavior interventionist at an inner-city charter school for kindergarten through eighth grade students, where she showed empathy, compassion, and provided developmentally appropriate interventions for students. She validates others and strongly stands by the Social Work Code of Ethics.
While Erica has been challenged in several settings to adhere to these ethics from supervisors and other colleagues, she stands her ground and strives to stand for the clients’ wants and needs based on what they voice to her. Erica continues to educate herself. She's always researching and making sure that she is using the best techniques to help others. She challenges broken systems while working within them to continue to strive to improve them in order to serve individuals and the communities. I am very honored to have worked with her and to know her.

I met Erica Buckner when she applied for the advanced internship position at R.O.H. on the adolescent unit in 2016 while completing her Masters in Social Work at Louisiana State University. It was a pleasure to supervise Erica. She's an astute, self-starter who is conscientious about patient/client history, psychosocial and environmental factors; and the delivery of individualized culturally unique mechanisms. I trust Erica's clinical and ethical judgment because she's attuned to the most nascent literature, culturally well-versed, and never hesitates to consult with colleagues. I remember Erica running groups on the adolescent unit while being concerned about providing the most pertinent information to patients in concert with meeting patients where they were in their process. So, Erica (so ambitious) developed a 7-14 day manual draft that provided psycho-education across the most common presenting concerns among patients admitted to R.O.H.; skills training specifically Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT); introspective exercises to integrate healthy skills with practical living; and mindfulness-based practices. I want to say that this manual along with Erica's clinical psychology and social work background in research, assessments, and treatment were the precursors to bringing services to the community. Though Erica practices as an LMSW under clinical supervision (with only apprx. 200hrs remaining before she sits for the LCSW exam) she has a wealth of knowledge and experience that, I've seen, affects change in clients/patients and fellow colleagues. I admire her for her hard work and I commend her for preserving to birth something that's familiar but refreshing and engaging.

Erica Buckner, LMSW, is not only a visionary, but a community leader who models integrity, authenticity, and compassion with those who cross her path. Her conviction to build an equitable, benevolent, and thoughtful community through hard work, advocacy, and relationships set her apart from the rest.
